Mars is on the South node of the Moon, the Dragons Tail- spiritualizing and whipping the masculine energy through the cold reaches of space and cosmic perspective of Aquarius. Yet Mars is fiery, passionate and very much alive. Venus in Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn and the feminine heart of compassion faces off with the oppression of the patriarchy. Mercury and Sun in Gemini seek communication and information in square with Neptune stationing in Pisces- will it be compassionate understanding or the foggy confusion and checking out?

The last few days have seen some powerful aspects that are sure to have stirred up deep parts of ourselves. Mount Fuego in Guatemala erupted two days ago- the Earth is speaking to this awakening, and she will likely continue to with Uranus, the Great Awakener in the earth sign Taurus. Now is the time we have been waiting for.

Now is the breath of Awakening that emerges in the jungle, that rushes on the clean wind of the Andes, that unites the Heavens and the Earth through great effort, through being willing to turn our vision, however stuck our necks may be, and view things in a different way.

The old systems, old ways, old games of “play nice, cooperate, don’t speak up and just play along like everything is fine” are dying. Anyone with vision to see can see that things are far from fine. Great Work does not lie ahead, it is here, in the now and present.

Venus is asking us to take heart and take stock of our emotional reserves. Venus in Cancer is exalted and has great strength and abundance of emotional capacity for her face off with Pluto at this time. Uranus in Taurus is exploding resources on how to move stuck energy- out of our bodies and out of the Earth. Soundstrue.com among other resources have been brimming with information on how to heal Trauma recently. Much of the leading and breakthrough methodologies are focused on healing through the body- be it eye movement, stretching, shaking, gardening, ecstatic dance etc.

Mars is super active right now and will continue to be so throughout the summer being highlighted and super charged in the eclipses coming up in July and August. Mars needs space to swing its sword without hurting others, it needs discipline to refine its action in society, and it needs respect for its role in the world. If we squash our warriors, our anger, our passion and our drive we will surely be vulnerable. Not only has the feminine been repressed throughout the ages, but also the masculine- because we must unite the two to awaken.

With Mars on the South Node and the upcoming eclipses I’ve been doing research into the nature of Dragons. The South Node of the Moon is called Ketu in Vedic astrology and represents the tail of a dragon that was cut in half. It can be associated, along with the North Node, the Dragon’s head, with the Oroborous, the alchemical symbol called the Hermetic Dragon. Often associated with desire within the human being for knowledge it is associated with the pursuit of the Philosophers stone in the Alchemical traditions.

Alchemist Eugenius Philalethes recorded a dream he had where he traveled into the underworld in search of the philosopher’s stone. There in the deep recesses of the Earth eh found a Dragon coiled around the gold and riches. Above the treasure was a child and the inscription “Only for the Humble Ones.”

There is reason why this pursuit of treasure (be it wisdom, awakening growth or liberation) we find dragons. There is something to be purified of our desire nature through the pursuit of awakening this summer as symbolized by Mars on the south node of the Moon, the Dragons tale. And when we find this treasure we are greeted by a child. It seems Hermes has some secrets waiting to be revealed in this story.

May the Sun and the Quicksilver shining forth the energy and season of Mercury’s sign Gemini bless us all in the remembrance of our own innocence. May Thoth reveal to us something of the brilliance of imagination and the humility of approaching life from the humble state of beginner’s mind. May we all find our treasure.

Blessed Innocence,
Zoey Wind
