I stand before you
All that I am
Will you love me?
I cry to the sky
Hear me and reply!
Keep my hearth fire strong
Inside my chest
To love myself as other
And other as self
And all your creation
In the beauty way
Great emanations unfolding
Upon the altar of the soul
Beyond all reason
And all control
This lunation asks of us to take a deep rest. Though counterintuitive for a New Moon with Mars right beside it, there is still a New Moon asking us to slip tenderly into something soft and use the vigor of Mars to traverse our inner terrain. The Sabian symbol for the 13th degree of Libra is “In the heat of the noon hour, man takes a siesta.” It speaks to yielding to the pull of internal regenerative forces to be tended to so that we can continue to show up in intense social times. And certainly we can all relate to this sentiment at the current moment.
The image of Libra is that of Justice, the blindfolded woman holding the scales of time in one hand and a sword in the other. The sword is to cut away that which is false. The blindfold reveals that truth is within. She seeks truth within so that judgement is not of the outer appearance of what stands before her, but from a knowing that only comes from the heart. There is a deep stirring in the heavens for inner movement right now. Libra’s cardinal nature wants to initiate change, just as this sign initiates us into the new season of Fall every year, this new lunar cycle beginning in Libra asks that our changes be internal.
The Full Moon in Aries in two weeks will bring us out of our inner draft board to break new ground on being the highest and best version of ourselves possible. Use this pause to design your inner terrain to be the most beautiful, balanced and intelligent design for the function of continuing to build relationships that light up your life.
In these times it is more important than ever to remember that forces or beliefs that seek to divide are antithetical to the human needs for culture, togetherness and connection. We can navigate these currents skillfully with the Libran light of love in our hearts. There is a way to be both embracing of forgiveness and compromise for the sake of our higher values as well as the knowing of ourselves so true that we know when we need to hold strong to what we need for ourselves. The way you do so will be unique to you, and reveal the leader within.
Mars in Libra is said to be a bit out of place by the ancients because Libra is Venus’s sign seeking peace and beauty, while Mars is supposed to be our more brute force and ambitious energy. But in this modern time of merging opposites and embracing the non-binary Mars in Libra may be exactly what we need.
Mars will conjoin the Sun in Libra on October 7th in the sign of Libra, marking for some astrologers the beginning of a new 2 year cycle for the Divine Masculine within all beings. Others use the retrograde cazimi as the start point, but both are significant as opposite points on the wheel. May we sow our seeds with clear intention as we learn to cultivate our will, drive and seeking along the path in alignment with our highest values of beauty, justice and intelligent design.
Everyone will never agree on everything. But Libra asks that we listen. That we consider the other’s point of view by hearing their story. Things may feel fiery and heated as we talk about that which we hold great passion for. That’s the moment to know if we need to rest and digest the social mores of the day as the Sabian symbol suggests.
Chiron opposes this New Moon from Aries illuminating that it is through the tending of our own inner woundedness that we may show up for others in spite of ourselves. It is not either or. It is yes and. Yes, I am angry and tired and feel strongly about this, and I understand that you feel the same about your perspective. We each cultivate our values in life according to the unique life experiences we have had. Each perspective is valid.
People may be coming either from a healthy, integrated space, or a space of woundedness and ego at this time, and most likely a mix of both. The stars are currently offering us a chance to open our hearts and discover where we are at in this present moment.
Do we let our anger at injustice leak onto others around us? The complexity of injustice in the world is truly overwhelming. We cannot seem to purchase, eat, move or decide anything without participating in modern colonization and disrespect of the Earth and all living things. Yet, we must eat, we must shower, we must live, we must breathe; somehow, we must live with a sense of peace in our hearts.
Chiron in Aries is about the wound of our personal freedom. Give yourself to tend to yours. Our sovereignty to discover for ourselves who we are, our independence, our individuality, our identity is crucial to human development. The soul’s vision quest can only be done alone, witnessed by Creator. We can have support, but the truth of our hearts is ours alone to know. May you seek with the light of adventure in your eyes.
If you feel exhausted from the state of the world, and understandably so, give yourself time to rest and restore during this New Moon. It’s ok to opt out of the meeting, conversation or debate. It’s ok to elevate perspective beyond the literal, and into the metaphysical, philosophical mind of the Creator, where logic and reason are only half of the equation, and faith is the fulcrum upon which it all stands.
At times we must sit back and trust in a higher design beyond our human understanding. At other times we must stand up and play our role in that creation more actively. The space of peace from which this inner knowing arises only comes when we have done deep inner work to know ourselves and our values. If we value love and togetherness like the Libran frequencies emanate, then this Venus in Scorpio may help us to move beyond the surface differences and into the deeper crevices of the heart of the issue at hand.
Usually, the thing we are talking about is not actually what we are talking about. It is a symptom, a by-product of a pure frequency that is seeking higher expression into this material realm. Use the power of Venus as Shaman to look beyond the surface of what’s going on to understand humans in a more primal and spiritual way. How one person expresses a value may be totally different from how another person expresses it. This can be confounding to the mind, but to the heart it can make sense.
Mercury just stationed retrograde, Pluto is stationing direct within one day with Saturn to follow next week and Mercury and Mars will run into each other in the Heart of the Sun just following this New Moon. There is a lot of pivoting energy alive as the mind and masculine unite in the light of the Sun in the house of the Goddess. This moment in time affords us space to do some finishing touches in our inner integration of the past year as we move into the final quarter of 2021.
Mercury and Mars meeting together in the sun on October 7th is powerful for facing fears with fierce intelligence that flows like grace. For observing power dynamics from the back seat. For reserving judgements based on surface opinions or words. For getting deep into the heart of truly knowing another person. For anchoring relationships within our highest ideals, with a gentle understanding of the woundedness within all beings. We are all doing the best we can, and from love and feeling seen and supported by our communities we can find the courage to make the changes that make our lives and the world a more beautiful place to be in.
The influence of Uranus in Taurus is amplifying for the rest of the year. We will all be pushed to break-through the confines of comfort and security into a higher understanding and awakening around our embodiment and what it really means to be human. The more comfortable with change we can get, the more quickly Uranus rewards us with this higher awakening.
Imagine there is so much more to know that we can ever know. And yet, everything we could ever know is right inside. May the reaches of this lunar energy offer your heart a space to rest and plant new seeds in how you wish to show up in relationships of all kinds. Where do we need to know ourselves and our boundaries better, and where do we need to compromise for the sake of our higher values? The right answer may not be logical, but it will bring peace of heart, body and mind.
